This new method of cell handling has generated new ways of integrating cells into devices and bioprocessing. Subsequently there are new applications for algal biotechnology. Until now most attention has focussed on algae grown in liquid culture. The Algae Printing technology has invented a new form of solid culture with potential domestication of algal biotechnology.
